Nindo Punturi, an Associate Scientist at the Chordoma Foundation, brings nearly a decade of expertise in translational cancer research. Nindo is focused on uncovering new details of chordoma biology, discovering and validating therapeutic strategies, uncovering clinically relevant therapeutic biomarkers of sensitivity and resistance, and elucidating therapeutic resistance mechanisms. He also leads efforts to characterize pre-clinical chordoma cell models and optimize experimental protocols to help facilitate field-wide progress toward a cure. Currently, his work focuses on identifying therapeutically actionable vulnerabilities related to replication stress signatures in chordoma. One such vulnerability is chordoma's reliance on ATR, a critical component of DNA repair during replication. He is exploring novel drug combinations in the treatment of chordoma that exploits replication stress and reliance on ATR. In addition to his scientific contributions, Nindo spearheaded the launch of one of the first non-profit laboratories focused on rare diseases. Nindo received his B.S. in Pre-Professional Biology at Campbell University and trained in translational breast cancer research at Sanford Burnham Prebys and Baylor College of Medicine.
