Immunotherapy fellow
Surgery Branch, NCI, NIH
I am a current fourth year surgery resident at University of Illinois – Chicago pursuing surgical oncology. I recently completed the three-year Surgery Branch/Cancer Immunotherapy Research Fellowship in June of this year. At the Surgery Branch my projects focused on identifying gene fusions from transcriptomic data and analyzing how this class of tumor mutation can generate tumor specific neoantigens that may be used in developing immunotherapies. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with samples from several fusion-driven sarcoma subtypes that sparked my clinical and research interest in these cancers that are not fully understood and often have limited treatment options available.
I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska and completed college in Oregon before moving to Chicago for medical school and residency, having also lived in the District of Columbia while working at the Surgery Branch. I have found many things to love about every part of the country I have lived in. In my free time I enjoy staying active with running, soccer, rock climbing, and riding my bike around the city trying to find the best bakeries.
