Emanuela Palmerini is a medical oncologist, and has been on staff in The Osteoncology, Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas and Innovative Therapies at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna, Italy, since November 2005. Her clinical interests are bone and soft tissue tumors. She also coordinates the Clinical Trials Research at Rizzoli and has acted as PI or co-I in more than 30 clinical trials in the treatment of sarcoma. Since 2021 she leads the Phase I Unit Requirements Acquisitions and Maintenance Working Group at Rizzoli. She collaborates with the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli Research Laboratories pioneering new treatments for these rare tumors, with the European Institute of Oncology and with the Cell Therapy Unit and the Hemolymphopathology at the Institute of Hematology Seragnoli in Bologna.
In May 2021, she was appointed the National Academic Qualification as Full Professor – Hematology, Oncology and Rheumatology (06/D3). She is member of several scientific societies including ASCO, ESMO, CTOS, EORTC, SELNET. In 2019, she was elected to the board of Director at European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS) and to the European Organization of Cancer Research (EORTC) Bone Sarcoma Clinical Trial Working Group. Since 2021 Dr Palmerini is co-Chair of the European Consortium for osteosarcoma FOSTER -Fight OsteoSarcoma Through European Research.
