medical staff
National Cancer Center Hospital, Japan
I am Dr. Hiroya Kondo, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in bone and soft tissue tumors. Since April 2024, I have been a medical staff member in the Department of Musculoskeletal Oncology and Rehabilitation at the National Cancer Center Japan. My research focuses on sarcomas, particularly exploring innovative treatments like oncolytic virotherapy and immunotherapy. My recent work includes investigating p53-armed oncolytic virotherapy for osteosarcoma, analyzing soft tissue sarcomas in Japan using the National Cancer Registry, and comparing surgical and particle beam therapies for pelvic bone sarcomas. I'm also developing fluorescence-guided assessment methods for sarcomas and studying soft tissue sarcomas in adolescents and young adults. My goal is to advance sarcoma treatment in orthopedic oncology, improving outcomes for patients with these rare cancers.
