Laura M. Warmke, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Indiana University School of Medicine and is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. She currently serves as Director of the new, ACGME-accredited Bone and Soft Tissue (BST) Pathology Fellowship at Indiana University, which she helped to create with the wonderful BST team, and as Chair of the Clinical Competency Committee. As a native of Virginia, she received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at the University of Virginia and completed both medical school and her AP/CP pathology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she completed fellowships in both Selective Surgical Pathology and BST Pathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she received the Oncologic Pathology Award for Best Fellow Lecture. She is an ASCP faculty member and recently gave a lecture on non-neoplastic bone and soft tissue lesions at the 2023 ASCP Annual Meeting. She greatly enjoys being both an author and editorial board member for BST pathology for PathologyOutlines.com, where she received the Best Author Award in 2022. Her passions include writing and teaching, and she recently received the 2024 Indiana University Faculty Award for Excellence in Anatomic Pathology Teaching. She is a former resident member of the ACGME Review Committee for Pathology, former resident member of the Pathology Milestone 2.0 Working Group, recipient of the CAP Leadership Development Award, member of the International Skeletal Society, and author of numerous publications in the field of BST pathology.
