Dr Armelle Dufresne, MD PhD, is a French medical oncologist specialized in the management of patients with sarcoma at Centre Léon Bérard (CLB). She pursues a double, clinical and scientific career, after a double training obtaining a PhD in medical oncology and biology. Her commitment to sarcoma research developed during her doctoral (PhD) studies with a project dedicated to desmoid tumors. She strengthened her knowledge on basic biology in GIST and sarcoma during a 2 years post-doctoral position in Dr Jonathan Fletcher’s lab in Boston and Harvard Medical School. Back to France she joined the sarcoma team of the anti-cancer center of Lyon, to pursue cutting edge sarcoma translational research being involved in both clinical and basic research as an independent clinician-scientist. She is actively involved in national and international scientific community (French Sarcoma Group member, ESMO faculty member from 2021 to 2025, chair of the systemic treatment subcommittee of STBSG (EORTC) from 2022 to 2025…).
