I have cultivated a deep passion for the treatment of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST), soft tissue sarcomas, and retroperitoneal sarcomas, which I honed during the final years of my residency at the Sarcoma Service of the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan and further specialized in during my Abdominal and Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Following this, I returned to the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, where I currently work as a surgical oncologist within the Sarcoma Unit. My primary objective is to develop, promote, and implement a comprehensive care pathway for sarcoma and GIST patients, grounded in the principles of multidisciplinary management, evidence-based medicine, and best clinical practices. This process is anchored in a continuous commitment to clinical research.
I am currently advancing the use of minimally invasive and robotic surgery in the personalized management of abdominal, retroperitoneal, and pelvic sarcomas. Additionally, I am actively involved in ongoing clinical trials and research, and I am laying the groundwork for future clinical trials focused on soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities and trunk.
