After graduating from University of Insubria, Varese – Como, Italy Fabio started his training in general surgery in Milan working in various hospitals across the city including Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori where he was trained in the Sarcoma unit lead by Alessandro Gronchi. He moved to the UK in 2018 where he attended the HPB and liver transplant unit for 2 years to complete his training in major abdominal surgery. He completed fellowships at sarcoma centres including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He is currently working as a consultant surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham, UK. His clinical and academic activity is exclusively dedicated to the treatment and study of soft-tissue sarcoma with specific focus on retroperitoneal sarcoma. He is an active member of the Transatlantic Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG), the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), and the British Sarcoma Group (BSG).
