• Born in Bologna (Italy) on December12th, 1961.
• 1984: Degree in Biological Sciences (score of 110 out of 110, with high honours).
• Since 1989: Employed as full time Staff Researcher at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli (Bologna, Italy) since December 1988.
• From 1999 to 2008: Chief of the Research Unit (Modulo Organizzativo) "Studies on drug resistance" at the Laboratory of Experimental Oncology of the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli (Bologna, Italy)
• Since 2009: Chief of the "Pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics" Research Unit of the Laboratory of Experimental Oncology and, since June 2021 of the Osteoncology, Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas and Innovative Therapies Department of the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli (Bologna, Italy)
• Principal Investigator and Coordinator of several National and International Research Projects.
• Research activities mainly focused on the analysis of the genetic and molecular mechanisms responsible for drug resistance in the most common bone and soft-tissue sarcomas, as well as on the genetic background associated with a differential drug sensitivity in osteosarcoma cell lines and clinical samples.
• 1999-2002: Italian Responsible for the Research Protocols "Analysis of P-glycoprotein expression in osteosarcoma" and "Micrometastatic disease in patients with osteosarcoma" of the Italian Sarcoma Group/Scandinavian Sarcoma Group Research Project "An Italian-Scandinavian treatment and research protocol for high-grade osteosarcoma of the extremities. Localized disease and metastatic relapse"
• Since 2011: Scientific Responsible for the analysis of ABCB1 expression in osteosarcoma patients enrolled in the Italian Sarcoma Group ISG/OS-2 treatment protocol (https://ClinicalTrials.gov/show/NCT01459484) and of the Grupo Español de Investigación en Sarcomas (GEIS) treatment protocol for conventional high-grade osteosarcoma
• Until August 2024, Author or Co-Author of 169 international publications (H index = 58 by SCOPUS).
