Maya Schulpen studied Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University in Nijmegen. During her master’s education, she specialized in the fields of human pathobiology and epidemiology. Maya obtained her master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (Cum Laude) in 2016. Consecutively, she started as a PhD student at the Department of Epidemiology at Maastricht University (GROW- School for Oncology and Developmental Biology). Her PhD research was aimed at investigating the association between adherence to a Mediterranean diet and cancer risk in the Netherlands. After defending her PhD thesis in 2020, Maya joined the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology for four years where she was employed as an epidemiologist and postdoctoral researcher at the research group “Childhood Cancer Epidemiology & Outcomes”.
