Senior researcher
Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Fundación Jimenez Díaz (IIS-FJD), Spain
I'm a senior postdoctoral researcher in the group of advanced therapies and biomarkers in sarcomas (ATBSarc), at the Research Health Institute of the Fundación Jimenez Diaz, since 2021. From January 2021 to December 2023, I was a recipient of a Sara Borrell Fellowship (CD20/00155). Over the past years, I have developed various skills and accumulated experience in molecular and cellular biology, as well as in omics studies and bioinformatics, which I apply to pre-clinical and translational research in sarcomas. As a postdoctoral researcher, I have trained several young scientific researchers (MSc or BSc students) and I’m
co-directing a Ph.D. thesis. I'm the scientific PI of several translational projects associated with prospective clinical trials of the Spanish group for research on Sarcoma (GEIS), several of them have already been published in important scientific journals, such as The Lancet Oncology, JAMA Oncology (I'm the last author of this publication), Molecular Cancer, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, among others. I have published more than 45 articles in peer-reviewed scientific
journals. I'm the PI of several projects awarded in public calls. I’m the scientific coordinator of the translational research program of SELNET. I’m an active member of the international preclinical research teams of Accelerator Sarcoma Consortium and Pushing Ultra-rare Sarcomas Towards Hope (PUSH). and I'm currently part of the board of directors of a patient advocacy group in angiosarcoma (Asociacion Vyda). In the past years, I have established, in the ATBSarc group, a platform of more than 35 patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models in sarcoma, which are available for the sarcoma community, and I have developed in collaboration with Dr. Martin- Broto a app for improving toxicity item collection in the clinical setting. I’m part of the editorial team of BMC Cancer.
