Surgical Oncologist

I completed my medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 2006, followed by a specialization in General Surgery at the Hospital de Especialidades “Miguel Hidalgo” in Aguascalientes. I then pursued a subspecialization in Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Mexico. I am currently an Assistant Physician in the Department of Skin, Soft Tissues, and Bone Tumors, overseeing the Sarcoma Clinic.
I hold a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Tumors from the European University of Madrid, endorsed by the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology. Additionally, I have earned a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences and a Master’s in Health Management, where I also completed a PhD in Health Sciences. My academic pursuits have been complemented by specialized Health and Corporate Well-being Management training.
In my professional capacity, I serve as a Professor of Surgery at the undergraduate level at UNAM and as a collaborator and adjunct professor in the Postgraduate Program in Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. I am also actively involved in the Mexican Society of Oncology (SMeO), coordinating academic activities for oncology fellows.
My research interests include sarcomas, melanoma, rare tumors, retroperitoneal sarcoma, and immuno-oncology. I am a member of several prestigious oncology societies, including the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Throughout my career, I have authored 58 indexed articles, contributed 18 book chapters, and guided 16 theses. The National System of Researchers (SNI I CONACYT) recognized my work for the period 2023-2028. I have also enhanced my expertise through international fellowships at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
