Yoongyeong Lee is a current Ph.D. student in the Department of Comparative Biosciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biological Sciences from Konkuk University, Korea.
Since 2021, she has been a Graduate Research Assistant in the Comparative Oncology Research Laboratory under Dr. Timothy Fan, where her research focuses on anti-cancer drug discovery and the mechanisms of cancer therapies. In early 2020, she served as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Cannabis Research, Colorado State University-Pueblo, contributing to projects on cannabinoids that impact rheumatoid arthritis and breast cancer cells. Previously, she worked as a Research Assistant in Dr. Kyungho Lee's laboratory at Konkuk University, investigating the role of the unfolded protein response (UPR) in metabolic liver diseases and breast cancer, and exploring the therapeutic potential of various candidate substances.
Yoongyeong is proficient in a wide range of laboratory techniques, including mammalian cell culture, molecular assays, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. She also has extensive experience working with mouse models, particularly in establishing xenograft cancer models and performing tissue sample collections.
