Post Doctoral Research Fellow
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
My name is Stavriani Makri and I am a medical graduate from Greece. The passion for research led me to pursue a carreer abroad and I am thankfully a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Dr. Pratilas laboratory studying the NF1-associated Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumors (MPNST). One of my main obligations is to retain the JH NF1 Biospecimen Reposiotry, which is a high-quality resource for ongoing scientific efforts in the NF1 research community. Samples included in the biorepository are blood fractions, frozen tumor tissues, slides from paraffin embedded tissue, single cell suspensions, and cell line and xenograft models to propagate primary human tissue and cells. Our goal is to improve accessing to available tissues and enhance research across the NF1 community.
