Ludmil Alexandrov is an Associate Professor of Bioengineering and Cellular & Molecular Medicine at UC San Diego. He received his Ph.D. in Cancer Genetics from the Sanger Institute and University of Cambridge. Dr. Alexandrov’s research focuses on understanding the information hidden in large-scale omics datasets and on leveraging this knowledge for developing better cancer prevention strategies and for improving cancer treatment. Dr. Alexandrov has co-authored 122 peer-reviewed manuscripts including 26 publications in Nature, Science, or Cell. Dr. Alexandrov is best known for creating the concept of mutational signatures, for developing bioinformatics tools for analyses of cancer genomics data, and for pioneering novel AI approaches for improving cancer treatment and cancer prevention
